About the game
Flappy Bird is a one-button arcade game where you control a small bird flying between gaps in green pipes. Every time you tap (or press the space bar), the bird flaps upward; release and it falls. Your job is to thread through each pair of pipes without touching them. Every pipe you clear scores one point.
The genius of Flappy Bird is its brutal simplicity. There is no scoring multiplier, no power-ups, no lives system — just you, the bird, and an endlessly scrolling obstacle course that punishes even the slightest mistap. That clean difficulty curve is what made it a global phenomenon.
How to play
- Press Play or the Space bar to begin. The bird waits on screen until you tap.
- Tap or press Space to flap. Each tap pushes the bird upward; gravity pulls it down between taps.
- Fly through the gaps between the pipes. Touching a pipe or the ground ends the run.
- Your score increases by one for each pipe you clear. Try to beat your personal best.

Five beginner tips
1. Tap gently
Heavy, panicked tapping sends the bird into the ceiling. Small, controlled taps keep it level.
2. Watch the gap, not the bird
Focus your eyes on the next gap, not on the bird itself. Your brain will handle the timing.
3. Stay mid-screen
Flying too high or too low reduces your reaction window. The vertical centre is the safest zone.
4. Learn from deaths
Each crash teaches you something about the timing. After a few runs you will start to "feel" the rhythm.
5. Take breaks
Flappy Bird punishes tilt. If you die three times in a row, step away for 30 seconds.
Why you'll like it
Flappy Bird is the ultimate "one more try" game. It is free, it needs no account, and a full run takes under a minute. The simplicity is the hook — you will always believe the next attempt will be the one.
